Rangoon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein is scheduled to appear in court today on April 26 for allegedly giving gold and dollars to State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, but adjourned until tomorrow, April 27, according to court sources.

The Nay Pyi Taw Special Court judge has postponed the verdict in the case since April 26 last week. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

The military council alleges that Phyo Min Thein paid $ 600,000 between the National League for Democracy (NLD) government and December 7, 2018, and seven pisas of academy gold, and that Suu Kyi received the award three times.

Anti-corruption commissioner Ye Htet, who is prosecuting in the case, testified on October 8 last year that no gold or dollar evidence had been confiscated from Suu Kyi that had been given to her by Phyo Min Thein during October 8 last year. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi herself replied in an October office appointment last October, "Phyo Min Thein has no reason to give her gold and dollars. There is no reason to take them.

According to sources close to the court, Suu Kyi pleaded not guilty to the charges on February 28. People close to the court say Suu Kyi, who arrived at the court today, is in good health.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced to life in prison after the military coup under Section 3 (1) (c) of the Government Secrets Law. He has been charged with a total of 18 charges, including Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law. He is currently serving a six-year sentence for five of those cases.
