JOHOR BAHRU: To relieve congestion at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) customs, immigration, and quarantine complex, the Johor state government is providing free shuttle bus services from Friday (April 22) until the end of the month.

The action, according to Johor chief minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi, is intended to help individuals stuck in traffic on the pedestrian bridge between JB Sentral and the BSI building. Mr Onn Hafiz stated on Facebook on Thursday that the decision to provide the service was decided following a task group meeting with numerous departments and agencies on Thursday.

The task group was formed lately to identify answers to the Woodlands Causeway's traffic congestion. Work to upgrade escalators has been highlighted as one of the causes of congestion for passengers using the pedestrian bridge connecting JB Sentral and BSI, according to Mr Onn Hafiz. These renovations are scheduled to be finished by the middle of June.

Due to complications originating from the COVID-19 epidemic, there are also a restricted amount of buses traveling in and out of BSI, with bus operators just beginning to operate on May 1st, he stated.

Mr. Onn Hafiz stated, "The state administration will commit to offering free shuttle bus services." "I think that with the actions made by this government, congestion in JB Sentral and BSI will be reduced and customers may be more comfortable."

The shuttle bus will pick up passengers every 10 minutes from Jalan Tun Razak (City Square) and Jalan Jim Quee to BSI, according to Mr Onn Hafiz, and the frequency of the services would be enhanced during peak hours and on public holidays.
