Hello there. Welcome back. Hope you all are doing great. This time, I would like to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Breast cancer often starts out too small to be felt. As it grows, it can spread throughout the breast or to other parts of the body which causes serious health problems and can even cause death.

Why is breast cancer awareness important?

It is incredibly important as early detection and screening can often catch the disease at its most treatable times.

What are Symptoms of breast cancer and how to detect it?

Some warning signs of breast cancer are—

  • New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).

  • Thickening or swelling of part of the breast.

  • Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.

  • Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast.

  • Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area.

  • Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood.

  • Any change in the size or the shape of the breast.

  • Pain in any area of the breast.

Therefore, make sure to check the breast carefully by following ways-

  • Place your right hand behind your head. With the middle fingers of your left hand, gently yet firmly press down using small motions to examine the entire right breast.

  • Next, sit or stand. Feel your armpit, because breast tissue goes into that area.

  • Gently squeeze the nipple, checking for discharge. Repeat the process on the left breast.

  • Use one of the patterns shown in the diagram to make sure that you are covering all of the breast tissue.

Next, stand in front of a mirror with your arms by your side.

  • Look at your breasts directly and in the mirror. Look for changes in skin texture, such as dimpling, puckering, indentations, or skin that looks like an orange peel.

  • Also note the shape and outline of each breast.

  • Check to see if the nipple turns inward.

Do the same with your arms raised above your head. Hope this helps you and have a great time.
