Prostate cancer is a form of cancer that begins in the gland cells of the prostate, which is found only in males. Although there is no prevention, there are things that you can do to lower the risk by diagnosing and early detecting the disease at its most treatable time.

Signs and Symptoms of Prostate Cancer

  • Problems urinating, including a slow or weak urinary stream or the need to urinate more often, especially at night
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Trouble getting an erection (erectile dysfunction or ED)
  • Pain in the hips, back (spine), chest (ribs), or other areas from cancer that has spread to bone. Weakness or numbness in the legs or feet, or even loss of bladder or bowel control from cancer pressing on the spinal cord

The best way to detect prostate cancer is by seeing a doctor and testing for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in a man’s blood. Another way to find prostate cancer is the digital rectal exam (DRE).For a DRE, the doctor puts a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum to feel the prostate gland. Hope this helps you and have a great time. Take care and stay safe.
